Who Is Filing Bankruptcy?
The data illustrated on this poster is from 2008 so its not entirely up to date; however, it does a good job at breaking down the demographics of the question (Click on the image for a larger view).
I have to admit the data is somewhat surprising to me as is the conclusion that the “average” person filing bankruptcy is Caucasian, 35-44, married, with a high school education, and an income of less than $30,000 a year.
Bankruptcy clients to me or more than just a statistic so I caution those from reading into the poster too far. Bankruptcy addresses the needs of a financial condition not an ethnicity, age, education, or income level. Still, the illustrated data is interesting and I thought I would share.
